Amy is president of New Leaf Publishing and Consulting and managing editor of its publications. Amy draws her editing and production skills from many years of work in the private sector, including Fortune 500 companies. But her roots are solidly in the New England countryside. Growing up in New Hampshire she helped her father produce maple syrup every spring. She graduated salutatorian of Pinkerton Academy and entered Wellesley College, taking coursework in political science. After developing an interest in human services, she transferred to Cornell University’s College of Human Ecology and majored in human service planning.
Her first foray into the publishing world came as production assistant at American Demographics magazine, a highly regarded Dow Jones publication for marketing professionals. While at American Demographics she also developed technology skills and became the computer and network manager. She was also the go-to person when the president needed specialized charts and graphs for presentations. She remained a computer network manager after moving to Emerson Power Transmission, a part of the Emerson Electric family of companies.
However, wanting to combine her training in human services with her skills in network management, editing and production services, Amy joined NeighborWorks America, a federally funded nonprofit that encourages homeownership and community development across the country. She then transitioned to a freelance business, editing papers on affordable homeownership and curricula for housing counselors. A particularly rewarding project has been working with housing professionals following Hurricane Katrina to produce a new housing counseling curriculum to help address the dire situation of so many residents of the Gulf region. Since joining with Duncan on New Leaf Associates, Inc., Amy has taken the lead on developing our agricultural development journal. As managing editor she manages the peer review and journal production processes. |
